University of UlsterThe University of Ulster (UU) continues to be a leading contributor of lifelong learning, research, and knowledge and technology transfer in Northern Ireland . Based on student applications, UU is placed in the top ten of the UK 's most popular universities (current enrolment over 28,500 students). This reinforces the UU's position as the largest University in Ireland . UU has doubled their world-class research capability with two five-star performances (one of them Biomedical Sciences) in the recent national Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). New research Centres of Excellence include the Centre of Molecular Biosciences (€ ~20m) (opened in 2002), the Centre for Functional Genomics (€ 6m), the Centre for Software Process Technology (€ 2.3m), and the Centre for Nanotechnology (€ 16.5m).

(Fraunhofer Society for the Advancement of Applied Research) is Germany 's leading organization of research institutions for applied research. Fraunhofer research institutes are coordinating and/or contributing to large national and international industrial applied research projects, as well as to research projects targeting the service sector, national and regional governments and the EU.


DaimlerChrysler AG (DC)

DaimlerChrysler AGThe "Information Mining" (RIC/AM) group is part of the "Autonomous Systems and Pattern Recognition" Lab which, in turn, belongs to the Information Technology division within DaimlerChrysler Research and Technology. RIC/AM consists of 16 permanent members plus another 14 PhD students and temporary members. The group is headed by Prof. Reza Nakhaeizadeh, who has been active in the area of data mining and machine learning for many years. RIC/AM mainly focuses on Data Mining and Text Mining methods to provide advanced, complex decision and product support systems for business-to-customer, business-to-business, internal business, and financial business applications at DaimlerChrysler. Neural networks, symbolic machine learning, case-based reasoning , statistics and optimization as well as information filtering methods are on the list of core technologies applied, adapted, or developed by the group. Aside DaimlerChrysler internal research projects, members of the group have been involved over the past years in various successful European projects like PROMOTEX, StatLog, PRINCE, CRISP-DM, INRECA II, METAL, and INFOMAN or Networks of Excellence like MLNet II and KDNet.


Israel Institute of Technology (TECHNION)

Israel Institute of TechnologyThe TechnionIsrael Institute of Technology is Israel 's primary technological university and largest center of applied research. Ranked among the leading technological universities in the world, numerous innovations in all fields have their origins in research at the Technion. All Technology Transfer & research activities of Technion staff operations of the Technion are handled by the Technion Research & Development Foundation ltd.

The Computer Science (CS) department at the Technion consists of more than 50 professors, spanning all areas in the core of computer science. The quality of research pursued in the Technion CS department is well known worldwide. About 800 students graduate each year from the department, including about 70 MSc and 35 PhD. The department graduates are known to be the "best of breed" in the country and abroad.


University of Ljubljana (LJU)

University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Civil and Geodetic EngineeringThe University of Ljubljana (LJU) is the largest University in Slovenia and has over 56,000 students and 3,700 staff. The participating group is the Chair of Construction Informatics form the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering. This group was a pioneer in the introduction of computers into the Slovenian construction industry. In addition to its priority construction informatics area and high performance computing (Finite Element modelling and similar), LJU has also been active in the electronic technical document management, integrated information systems, and object-orientated databases.

University Medical Centre LjubljanaOne of the demonstrations run by LJU will be conducted in collaboration with the University Medical Centre Ljubljana (UMCL). UMCL is a public health institution performing health activity at the primary, secondary and tertiary level as well as educational and research activity for the University of Ljubljana ( LJU ). It is the central health institution in Slovenia and one of the biggest university hospitals in Central Europe . At the end of 1999 there were 6,087 employees with over 2,000 hospital beds. University Children's Hospital (Director: Prof. Dr.Sci. Ciril Kržišnik, M. D., councillor) is a part of the UMCL. It has 420 employees, among them two senior university teachers, two associate professors, one full professor and one councillor. Key collaborator: Assist. Prof. Nataša Fidler.
